It was not be,
as on lap two he slid off at the low sped
chicane and took no further part in the session.
The
team did a great job of getting the number
one bike repaired for race one, but just
before the race, found it wouldn’t start!
This left Faulkner with no option but to
take the number two bike out with no dry
set up time. After eight laps Faulkner pulled
in to the pits and stating the bike was un-rideable.
A new clutch was put in the number one bike
for race two and Faulkner took to the grid
with renewed confidence. With good reason,
he got a great start and taking five riders
in the first lap, he was up to third privateer
going in to lap two.
Then entering the long
left hander at turn four, Faulkner appeared
to run straight on and the resulting crash
left the rider nursing cracked ribs and some
heavy bruising.
The rider was unable to shed
any light on the crash and other riders that
had witnessed it could not add any more.
The team will have to put that one down to
a bad weekend and move onto the next round
at Knockhill.
The whole weekend was marred
by the tragic death of one of the sports
rising stars, Guy Sanders. Hit by following
bikes in the Supersport 600 race, Guy later
died in Theatre from serious injuries sustained
in the incident. Team Emco/NSF Racing would
like to offer its condolences to his family,
friends and team.
He will be sadly missed.
