TEAM EMCO/NSF RACING WIN OPENING OF MRO NATIONAL
POWERBIKE CHAMPIONSHIP
Team Emco/NSF Racing went
to Brands Hatch for the opening round of
the MRO Powerbike Championship, predominately
to use it as a "shakedown test"
Having
only picked up their number one bike the
day before, the team expected to have some
work to do in getting set up. However it
performed faultlessly from the start and
rider Neil Faulkner dominated the qualifying
session and Saturdays Superpole race.
In
the first feature race on Sunday, starting
from Pole position, Faulkner got away with
the front row and within 2 laps was into
the lead. From there he lead comfortably
and controlled the race using his pit signals,
winning by over two seconds at the flag and
setting fastest lap by almost half a second.
In the second, Faulkner made
a terrible start and ended up sixth after
the first lap. He then set about forcing
his way to the front and within 3 laps was
back at the head of the field. Try as he
might, second placed Rob Elsmere couldn't
stay with Faulkner and he again pulled out
a comfortable lead with the last four 4 laps
all within five hundredths of a second of
each other!
Team Rider Faulkner said " This
was a perfect way to start the season.
We have never won the first round of any
championship and to come here and dominate
from the beginning of the weekend is awesome!,
Now we need to carry this on to the BSB Test
in a couple of weeks time"
