Hertford
based Emcogroup to compete in the most
competitive domestic motorcycle racing
championship in the World
Hertford based Emcogroup Ltd have teamed
up with local racer Neil Faulkner to make
an assault on the prestigous British Superbike
Championship, generally accepted to be
the most competitive domestic motorcycle
championship in the World.
Having last raced in the
British Championship in 2002, Neil, 38, was forced to take
a break from top flight competition due to
injuries sustained in a huge crash in testing
at Mallory Park. Since then he has been keeping
himself sharp by competing in the open class
at National level. Finishing 2006 with several
race wins and the coveted AMC Matchless Trophy
for the "Champion of Brands", Team
Emco decided it was time to move back to
the premier class. With ex factory bikes
supplied by the Virgin Mobile Yamaha team,
Neil intends on making a bid for the privateers
trophy, for riders not benefiting from direct
manufacturer support. Team rider, Neil Faulkner
explains; “We have unfinished
business in the British Championship. The
last time I took part I was relatively inexperienced
and not in control of important choices,
that position has now changed. I now
have much more experience, an enthusiastic
team and some of the best equipment available.
For the last couple of years, I have spent
less and less time racing but my lap times
have continued to improve. I need to set
myself goals to keep motivated, the British
Superbike Championship is the only place
left where I haven’t won races. I aim
to put that right in 2007”
The British Superbike Championship is held
over 13 rounds with two races at each venue.
With crowd attendance regularly reaching
over 50,000 and benefiting from both live
Sky and terrestrial TV coverage it is one
of the most exciting forms of media advertising
currently available today. Top brand names
such as Virgin Mobile, Red Bull, Wriggly's
Airwaves, Cadbury, Rizla, Hitachi, and Bennett’s
Insurance have all seen the advantages in
supporting this hugely popular series.
Emcogroups Mark Cain said of his team, "The
difference with bike racing is that sponsors
and their guests can get really close to
the team and experience the real deal of
racing. There's plenty of hard close action
with the thrills and spills that go with
it. For the coverage we get from this venture
it's a no-brainer really, even for non bike
enthusiasts, you can't ignore the popularity
of this championship and the impressive TV
viewing statistics and crowd attendance".
